Maria Argyriou

Haris’s  workshop that I attended was the experience of a lifetime and it changed my life profoundly. It set in motion a journey of inner exploration, introspection and self-discovery that was completely different to anything I had ever previously encountered. By turning and looking inside and finding a real connection with my inner self. The fact is that most of us are unfortunately focused on what is going on outside us. Truths and needs that were hidden deep inside came to the surface and I began to recognise my fears and to confront them. The next stage was the gradual acceptance of myself both externally and internally. For the first time in my life I began to accept my body and to love my qualities. What I experienced in every session permeated my whole body and touched my soul deeply. This experience was even more exceptional for me because I wasn’t alone on the journey. I shared it with another seven travellers, as they shared their journeys with me, something that united us and brought us closer together.

Everything – and I mean everything – begins and ends inside us, and this is true of photography too. I feel extremely lucky to have met Haris. I trusted him right from the start, because I have always believed that photography, like any art, is the mirror of our soul and I need to be able to express myself through my senses and my feelings. My connection with my inner self has begun to evolve into a magical, creative, artistic path that I never want to end.

Looking inward is not an easy process. You have to be open, to feel ready for it, and to trust your “mentor”. However, there is nothing more rewarding than the essential transformation undergone by anyone who attempts it. I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who wants to find the “treasure” buried within and to liberate themselves in terms of artistic expression and creation.
