Antonis Makridimitris

It is not easy to describe Haris Kakarouhas’ photography workshop. I recently read a book by the traveller Henri Michaux, in which one phrase jumped out at me: “It is as if Westerners have a seed in their eye, bigger or smaller depending on the person. This seed never becomes sight. It is the mark of intellectualism, of intelligence.” When the workshop had finished, I realised that it is this seed that Kakarouhas is interested in, that he wants to eliminate, to change: our tendency to overthink things. So that his students succeed in finding their own (photographic) way of seeing, making a journey inside ourselves in terms of the image. Gradually understanding, through experience, that our pictures are just a reflection of our inner world. I will never forget the experience. It goes without saying that I strongly recommend it to anyone who feels ready to accept it.
